Film Screening - Heather Booth, Changing the World

  • Go Theater 261 East 9 Mile Road Ferndale, MI, 48220 United States (map)

It is a great pleasure to bring Heather Booth to Michigan to celebrate Emerge Michigan's annual event.  She founded Jane: the Underground Abortion Collective, which started a growing women's movement about taking our lives and our bodies into our own hands.  Jane provided safe options for women looking to terminate a pregnancy, public actions and demonstrations for the right to choose and support for women in waiting rooms where procedures were to be performed.

Heather supports labor and workers rights.  She took the funds she won in a lawsuit for back pay after she was fired for union organizing to start the Midwest Training Academy for Organizers.  The academy still exists today and has trained hundreds of thousands of organizers who have gone on to work for Planned Parenthood, NARAL, NAACP, Sierra Club and countless other groups.  Heather has dedicated her life to affecting social change and there is a new documentary film that explores her legacy.  Please join us at an exclusive screening and meet-and-greet with Heather Booth!
