FIGHTING VOTER SUPPRESSION WITH H.R. 1

H.R.1, the For the People Act, will take a big step forward in ending voter suppression by implementing the following laws:

  • Enact automatic voter registration

  • Nationwide same day voter registration

  • End voter purges

  • Reverse discriminatory voter ID laws

  • 15-day minimum nationwide early voting period, which would mean voters no longer need to provide an excuse to vote absentee

  • Restore the right to vote for people with felony convictions who have finished their sentences

  • States will be required to use independent redistricting commissions when deciding who represents you in the U.S. House

Hi my name is [Insert Name] and I am your constituent. I live in [State & District]. I am contacting you to ask you to support and push forward HR 1 now. Every voter, regardless of zip code, race, ethnicity, or disability should have the same access to the ballot box and HR 1 would go a long way towards making that a reality. We can’t wait to protect our democracy and I ask for you to prioritize the passage of these bills.
